Every startup needs a champion

Let us help make chasing your dream easier with our startup coaching service, covering everything from initial business registration to setting goals.

What is startup coaching?

Startup coaching is a form of business coaching tailored to people with little or no experience operating a company. The term found its way into in the mainstream during the digital gold rush of the dotcom boom.

The risky technology ventures that emerged in vast numbers were referred to as ‘startups’. While many perished the term survived as a fashionable way to label new companies.

Where do I begin?

The first step in startup coaching is an initial consultation to scope the potential of your business idea and find out a little more about you – qualities like your experience, vision and personal aspirations.

If it’s your first experience with establishing an entirely new business, we’ll discuss your basic needs first. This could include a trading name, ABN, tax obligations, business registration requirements and any applicable operating licenses.

You’ll have a range of business structures to choose from. They may have regulatory obligations attached that you’ll need to understand, such as the need to register for Single Touch Payroll, superannuation and possibly more. Startup coaching helps you explore these options in an informed way.

Once we’ve identified your needs, we’ll develop a proposal for action. This could include taking steps to act as your agent for common reporting functions, such as representing you to authorities like the ATO and ASIC.

You can read our startup checklist for more detail.

Established and early-stage businesses

If you have an established or early-stage business, or are planning to acquire one, we’ll seek to understand more sophisticated aspects of its operation. That could include its current performance, business culture, and any administrative systems and processes it currently has in place for managing its finances.

If it has no or only very primitive systems in place, we can offer suggestions for upgrading them.

Next steps

Once you’re established, we can explore the option of using our Business Optimiser tools to start setting some initial goals. You can find out more about that here.
